Dear Colleagues,

Four months into 2018, the Malaysian Arthroscopy Society (MAS) has been busy preparing and initiating a variety of educational activities to be held in the North, South, Central, East Coast and East regions of Malaysia. We continue in realising our society’s goals to promote, encourage, support and foster through continuing medical education functions; the development and dissemination of knowledge in the discipline of arthroscopic surgery to improve upon the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

While you may get updates on our activities from our website, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight our annual conference. It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join us at the 6th MAS Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018 taking place in Kuantan from the 26th to 28th of October 2018. This year’s meeting will be focused on Knee and Ankle, an area that many arthroscopy surgeons in Malaysia specialise in and we hope will peak the interest of many of you. The 6th MAS ASM 2018 Organising Committee, under the leadership of Dato’ Dr Badrul Akmal Hisham Md Yusoff are working tirelessly in putting together a comprehensive and extensive scientific programme that would benefit your practice.

Kuantan, Pahang is considered by many to be the gateway to the East Coast of Malaysia. Many travellers often make a stop in Kuantan before making their way to scenic beach destinations for their holidays. After the meeting, plan a holiday at Teluk Cempedak or Cherating beach that is bound to be enjoyable with your family.

2017 - 2019

I would like to welcome each and every member of the arthroscopy fraternity in Malaysia, including Trainees and Allied Health Professionals, to join us at the 6th Malaysian Arthroscopy Society Annual Scientific Meeting 2018.

We appreciate the feedback we have received over the years in regard to our annual conference and have focused on fine-tuning the meeting to suit the local community, while at the same time maintaining international meeting standards. This year, the theme we have chosen is one that many arthroscopy surgeons in Malaysia have chosen to specialize in, namely Knee and Ankle. From the committee’s experience and as seen in international arthroscopy meetings, this area is going through many advancements. As such, we hope to provide you with sessions that ideally encompass the latest findings and updates on the specific areas in relation to Knee and Ankle surgery. With the expertise of Dr Harjeet Singh and Dr Nik Mohd Fatmy Nik Mohd Najmi as Scientific Chairmen for the upcoming meeting, I believe you will be provided with a great selection of lectures that we hope inspires your practice.

This year’s meeting will be held out of the Central region, this time in the East Coast. You will not only be able to receive an education during this period, but also be able to enjoy the fascinating sights and sounds that the capital of Pahang has to offer, from the coastal scenery of Cempedak Bay and nearby Cherating beach to local delicacies unique to the town.

I hope you will join us on this journey of learning in Kuantan. You will not want to miss the exciting and insightful experiences that lie ahead.
